Pam Foley: I love the three-dimensional poetry of line, shape and form. My earliest work was pottery-wheel thrown functional cylinders, vases and bowls, which were altered into more sculptural shapes. The results were clearly reminiscent of the human form.

Since moving to the UK from my native USA, I decided to concentrate on sculpture. I continue to use clay, but only as a starting point. By applying the physicality of traditional sculpting methods with newer casting materials, such as fiberglass and resin, I have been able to blur the boundaries between artistic disciplines, moving the artwork into more contemporary realms. My work attempts to meld material with meaning, to continue a traditional engagement with narrative. My interest is in abstraction of the human form.coloured fibreglass and resin, 200h x 118w x 43d cm
